Bansko - a fabulous town-museum and resort in the heart of Pirin

Bansko is one of the most popular mountain and ski resorts in Bulgaria. It is situated at the foot of the Pirin Mountains and attracts tourists from all over the world. 

The city is known for its nature, beauty and history dating back to ancient times. During the period of the Bulgarian Revival the region became a cultural center of great importance for our history. Here Paisii Hilendarski wrote "Slavonic-Bulgarian History", the prominent enlightener Neofit Rilski was born in the town, as well as many personalities who left traces in national history and culture. Here lived clergy and teachers, rebels, participants in the struggle for the liberation of Bulgaria, educators and scholars. 

Today Bansko is an important cultural center with numerous museums, galleries, music events and festivals, first-class hotels, distinctive establishments and a unique atmosphere.
